Poem by Dan Lewis

Democracy 101
By Dan Lewis

As befits the conver-
sation. Where the money
comes from — your mouth
or mine. Each participant
will be given one and only
one bucket of shit to throw. Use
your ammunition
wisely; the electorate
is eager
for a solution.

Dan Lewis lives on the edge of the Patch Reservoir in Worcester, Mass. He is the author of a chapbook, Tickets for the Broken Year, and a full-length poetry collection, This Garden. Winner of the 2012 Frank O’Hara Prize, he has been published in many journals.
